Censor Board Ban: Once again, a movie got into trouble due to the ban from the Censor Board. It has been reported that the film ‘Unfreedom’ which explores the topic of homosexuality, has been banned  by the Censor Board this time.

‘Unfreedom’ is the story of a young girl who does not want to get into a forced arranged marriage to spend her life with her lesbian partner. The movie has failed to get the acceptance from the CBFC.

Earlier, we told you that CFBC had been in a number of controversies which was putting bans on the movies as well as editing the movies content. Recently, we also told you that there were huge protests from many Bollywood celebrities against Censor Board chief Pankaj Nihalani, who made a list of the objectionable words in Indian cinema.

And now, the Censor Board seems to have problem with the nudity and lovemaking scenes in the film ‘Unfreedom’. The film not only showcases the lesbian relationship, but at the same time features the story of a liberal Muslim who is kidnapped by a terrorist.

‘Unfreedom’, starring Adil Hussain and Victor Banerjee, “challenges the idea of religious fundamentalism and questions its connection with homosexuality which is a biting reality of India,” the director Raj Amit Kumar told.

The Examining Committee and the Revising Committee stated that “Hindu and Muslims will start fighting and will ignite unnatural passions”. On the other hand, the director of the film claimed that his film is not provocative.

As the Censor Board banned the movie, the director even appealed to the Film Certification Apellate Tribunal but this trial too in vain. Now, the director is  planning to make an appeal in the High Court.

At the moment, the decision of the Censor Board to ban the film has surely come as a huge blow to the LGBT community.
