Censor board banned the movie Unfreedom from releasing in India. But the makers of the movie are not backing down because of this setback; instead they are using the sentence “banned by censor board “very clearly in the trailer that is going viral on the internet these days. The reason why the censor board banned the movie in India is because the movie features a lesbian relationship. Well it is no wonder since the government of India has such a regressive view in the matter of same sex love why the censor board will be any different?
Raj Amit Kumar the director of the movie is based on Florida, so even though the release of the movie is banned in India they are showing the trailer on internet. The director told Mumbai Mirror that all three comities rejected his movie. He is making an appeal to high court, and keeping his fingers crossed that the Indian audiences may able to watch his movie. The movie stars one of the best Bengali actors of all time Victor Banerjee.
It is high time Indian censor board change their regressive ways otherwise the filmmakers will be afraid to make movies that is based on reality. Love is beautiful thing between two people and if these two people are from same sex then it does not become a crime. Many young gay people in India are forced to commenting suicide, so if the government does not change their ways these young people will never be safe in the society.
