IFFK 2014 – Day2 Meet the Press Hossein Shahabi, Manoj Michigan, Raj Amit Kumar and Prakash Bare

The all important Meet the Press programme on the third day of IFFK was attended by renowned Iranian film director Hossein Shahabi, Bengali filmmaker Manoj Michigan, Raj Amit Kumar and Prakash Bare who represented Sanalkumar Sasidharan, the director Of the movie  ‘Oralppokkam’.

Hossein Shahabi who spoke with the help of an interpreter said  that there are constraints for him as a filmmaker in Iran,especially  with regard to music.He said in Iran approach to music is conservative  and only some types of music are allowed there.

Manoj Michigan said that thriller has always been his favourite  genre and his film ’89’ is kind of experimental in nature. The film has a mix of linear and non linear narratives. To a question about his peculiar name, he jovially responded that he is innocent about it and that the credit goes to his parents.

Indo-American director Raj Amit Kumar spoke at length about his  movie ‘Blemished Light’,which is caught in censor wrangles.The film  which addresses the concepts of freedom and unfreedom in United States and India also tries to throw light on alternative sexuality.

Prakash Bare, the protagonist in the movie ‘Oralppokkam’, spoke about the incredible and dangerous experiences the film crew had while shooting in hostile environments in Himalayas.
